Date: 2/28/2024 Day 54 Sea Day: CRUISING THE TASMAN SEA
The Tasman Sea is a marginal sea of the South Pacific Ocean, situated between Australia and New Zealand. It measures about 2,000 km (1,200 mi) across and about 2,800 km (1,700 mi) from north to south. The sea was named after the Dutch explorer Abel Janszoon Tasman, who in 1642 was the first known person to cross it. British explorer Lieutenant James Cook later extensively navigated the Tasman Sea in the 1770s during his three voyages of exploration.
Morning Update: The Tasman Sea lived up to it's reputation last night with stormy seas. The rough ride start in earnest just after the evening diner around 9 PM. It was a rough ride all night and Cathy and I had a hard time getting to sleep. At least we had another time change rolling our clocks back another hour to align ship's time with Sydney Australia. That gave us another extra hour of sleep.
Much to my surprise Cathy ask to go to dinner last night after being in bed most of the day with sea sickness. Sea's are quite a bit better this morning. We'll see as the day processes. I have one more day of photos to review, process and upload. Then I am going to start working on all the GoPro video I have taken while in New Zealand. So check back often those posts for updates.
