Date: 2/10/2024 Day 37 Port: PAPEETE (TAHITI), FRENCH POLYNESIA
Description: The islands of Polynesia are a gorgeous collection of volcanic islands and atolls strewn lazily across the grand Pacific Ocean. The island of Tahiti proper is the largest of the 118 islands and atolls that comprise French Polynesia. Papeete, the modern capital of Tahiti and her islands, contains government offices, hospitals, banks and many other services dedicated to serving the islands as well as tourists who come to these islands for a life-enriching experience.
Planned
Excursion: None
Todays Notes: We arrived safely this morning in TAHITI after missing the last two ports-of-call navigating around Typhon's and Tropical depressions. We heard one of the islands we missed stopping at evacuated their residences. It's very wet and humid here. It's an overnight stop we're hoping the weather will lift for us to walk the nearby town and an excursion tomorrow.
We did get off the ship and walked into the local town. Pat bought a couple of things at the local market. We spent a couple of hours and by the time we headed back to the ship, it was raining pretty good. Once back on board we had lunch. Around 2 pm the internet went completely out. It was not restored until after 8 PM. The connection to the satellite was obscured by the weather and dense cloud's. All excursions today and tomorrow have been cancelled due to the weather.
Please check back here, I do have a few pictures and a video to upload in the next couple of days.
